Intro to Social Media Management and Strategies

What: You will be introduced to the basics of Social Media and to the necessary skills to succeed in the management of the main channels.

You will learn the basics of:

  • What is social media and why it is important
  • Which are the most used Social Media Channels and their differences
  • An overview of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube
  • A deeper view on Twitter and Youtube
  • How to Build a purpose-driven strategy
  • Define your audience
  • Produce valuable content
  • Frequency of publication
  • Intro to key concepts: the ABC of Branding
  • Intro to tools: an overview of Hootsuite and Buffer

Cost:  $595 (Students of the Stride Center can take the class for free in return for 12 volunteer hours of service)

Intro to Working in Salesforce – 101

When:  Thursday and Friday  (7/9, 7/10, 7/16 and 7/17)  6:00 – 9:00 Summer 2015

What: This class is a prerequisite for our Admin 201.  You will be introduced to the Salesforce environment and to the necessary job skills to succeed in the world of Cloud computing.

We will be using the Salesforce Cloud Training for Sales Reps (SLS101) This course will give you an introduction to what Sales Representatives who are new to the Sales cloud and need to quickly get up to speed on the various productivity tools available to help them succeed.

Salesforce skills you will learn:

  • Track prospective clients
  • Manage their accounts and opportunities.
  • Manage their workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with clients.
  • Run reports.

In addition to having strong technical skills, Emotional Intelligence is ranked as the most important asset an employee can have. Some of the skills this class will be covering:

  • Practical coping skills to improve your ability to handle stressful situations
  • Methods for being physically and mentally relaxed and at ease
  • To face change and difficult times in your work life with greater ease

Salesforce for Nonprofits

When:  Thursdays,  6:00 – 9:00 / January 8 – 29, 2015

Where: Stride Center, Downtown Oakland

Cost: $450 (Work/Study Scholarships available)

There is no cost for current students and graduates of The Stride Center however all students must agree to work 12 hours of volunteer time.

Description: Salesforce was named by Forbes as the “World’s Most Innovative Company”. They have the number one selling cloud based CRM in the world and are continuing to create more jobs at all different levels of skill sets.

This 12 hour class is geared towards students who have strong computer skills and are interested in building a career using Salesforce  and who are interested in learning about how this powerful tool can help nonprofits manage their diverse tasks.

Explore how nonprofits use the Salesforce Platform and the Salesforce Nonprofit Starter Pack (NPSP), a managed packaged (app) that sits on top of the powerful Salesforce.com Enterprise Edition and is donated free to all nonprofits.

In the class, each student will be a user in a test environment, and learn to navigate the nonprofit starter pack (NPSP)

Students will:

  • Learn about NPSP capabilities
  • Learn about popular tools in the nonprofit community, such as Apsona, Click & Pledge, and Form Assembly
  • Learn about the Salesforce Foundation Power of Us Hub, an online nonprofit support community
  • Learn about using Salesforce Standard and Custom Objects for typical nonprofit tasks, such as setting up a volunteer tracking, or simple events.
  • Learn about tracking Donors and Program Participants
  • Learn about troubleshooting and typical roadblocks that organizations face
  • Learn about data management and data integrity
  • Learn about Households and working with various types of constituents

The class will be taught be Sarah Gill, a certifed Salesforce Administrator and consultant at Support Labs.  Sarah has been working with Nonprofits using Salesforce since 2009.
