As hundreds of millions around the world get ready for #GivingTuesday November 29th, we want to recognize YOU for supporting the StrideLabs mission. Where else can you find a social enterprise that gives internships to people underrepresented in the tech industry and also provides much-needed tech consulting to nonprofits? See how meaningful your donations are and how you can contribute to our bold and exciting efforts in the new year:

We launched the StrideLabs Consulting Internship last summer with our client, the Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, that serves thousands of seniors and people with disabilities each year. For the engagement we recruited Briana Stout, a talented new Salesforce Administrator, who received her certification within a few months but couldn’t find work opportunities without job experience – a well-known catch-22 for thousands who hope to launch tech careers.

“I’ve been applying to jobs and interviewing on my own but have been getting rejected due to my entry-level experience,” Stout said. “StrideLabs is a great opportunity and program for me because they focus on helping and serving underrepresented black and Latina women, and I identify as both. Being a part of an organization that is focused on helping black women excel and advance is an organization I want to be engaged with…I am forever grateful for this learning and growth opportunity because it is a stepping stone for the next step in my Salesforce career.”

Our second awesome intern, Brittney Mims, also recently received her certification and many badges, but until the consulting internship, couldn’t find a way to gain consulting experience. Through our program, she has started working alongside StrideLabs volunteers with Twin Lake Food Bank that provides essential services to impoverished families.

“I knew I needed real-world experience to apply what I have learned and use my critical thinking skills. StrideLabs has afforded me this wonderful opportunity to combine my passion for technology with my compassion for nonprofits. This program addresses both the issue of underrepresented groups in the tech space and scarcity of resources for nonprofits by combining them together,” Mims said.

In addition to the StrideLabs Consulting Internship, we’ve begun consulting a San Pablo-based community organization, Visions, that works with people with intellectual disabilities so they can contribute to their community and develop new soft skills. Visions needed help with their operations infrastructure, marketing and fundraising.

“I’m grateful to StrideLabs and Kandea Mosley Gandhi for lending their expertise to further our mission that empowers people with disabilities in their personal and workforce development goals,” CEO Gwen Captain said. “I’m looking forward to what we can continue to make happen in 2023.”

What you see here is just a snapshot of our 2022 results! We look forward to you joining us by making these and other equitable opportunities available to people and nonprofits who deserve top-quality support so they can achieve their goals in the new year.

Together, we can accomplish so much! You can join us by making a tax-deductible gift here. This year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of #GivingTuesday, November 29th, Facebook is matching donations up to $100 for new recurring donors. The other advantage is that they don’t charge any processing fees.
