You might know me as Coach Michele—the one who plays with the Boomstik, or maybe the one with the spin serve. But I actually have another life I want to share with you.

I run a nonprofit called StrideLabs, where we work with young adults who are underrepresented in the tech industry. I hold a degree in computer science and, many years ago, founded a company that I was fortunate enough to sell. Having received what felt like a practically free education in a lucrative field, I was filled with gratitude—and that gratitude eventually led me into the nonprofit world with a deep passion for economic justice.

At StrideLabs, we help young people gain real access to the tech economy. We train them to become  Salesforce Business Analysts, and once they complete our training program, we bring them on as paid interns. These interns gain hands-on experience by helping nonprofits use technology more effectively—learning by doing, while making a real impact.

This is what makes our model so powerful. When you donate to StrideLabs, you’re not just helping a young person get experience in tech—you’re also helping a nonprofit become more effective, more efficient, and more sustainable through better use of technology.

Right now, we have three incredible interns who are doing amazing work with an East Oakland nonprofit, helping them use Salesforce to raise more money and better support the community they serve. It’s a true win-win!

Historically, we’ve been highly dependent on government grants. Given the current administration and ongoing attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion, we know we need to change that. To keep this work going—and growing—we must build a stronger base of individual donors who believe in opportunity, access, and equity.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you.

Any amount you’re able to give makes a difference. And if you’re in a position to do so, I encourage you to consider a recurring donation, which helps us create the stable funding base we need to support interns and nonprofit partners long-term.

Thank you for being part of this community and for believing in a future where opportunity in tech is accessible to all.
